I met one of these beautiful fellows flying past me as I was standing in the middle of the grounds of the countryside. Amazing experience. 🪽 Wingspan was massive!😮

I watched this video to confirm if the bird in my back garden in Blackrock, Co. Dublin which has now plucked and is proceeding to eat a pigeon is, as I suspected, a Hen Harrier. Indeed it is. It is a female. I saw one some years ago in the garden but that one was motionless, probably on the lookout for a unsuspecting small bird at the feeder. The pigeon put up a struggle.

I have a tree in my front yard about 4m tall, is it not good enough, e.g. too close to human residence or too short the tree, to put on a house for Owls ?

Don't know the situation in Ireland but here in Britain it's the development of wearhouses and house being built on green belt land that is the major problem here. It's so sad that when I was in my 20s there was more green belt land than there is now. Also barns being converted into house . But on a plus most farmers and people are encouraging barn owls by putting up owl boxes .

I often wonder if in the future owls can be micro chiped just like dog and cats to monitor them

What is a chance to have nest box for them to take up residences in urban gardens of outskirt of city? They are best pest controllers they can feed on mice and rats of urban take away. I think?

I had a pair nest right above my front door this spring in Arizona. I was able to set up cameras all over the place and watch them raise their young. Such a fascinating beautiful creature. I felt like I was the luckiest human on earth!

I live in Florida, and one of the places I worked in had a barn owl nest in the trees at the front of the property. I worked nights, so I got to hear the babies screeching quite often. I was even lucky enough to see one of the parent owls glide over the yard. I adore these birds, they are so important to the environment. It’s good to see people getting involved in protecting them. ❤️

So cute when a single fly inside the nest captured the owlets' attention! Wonderful documentary! Thank you! 😺💕🐾

Just had my first experience with these beautiful creatures....built a nest right over my front door! I'm gonna try an owl box for next season to try and keep them here. What a blast!

learned alot from this nest this season....thank you!!!. I had a family of 5 over my front door for the first time. I'll be building a proper nest box, with camera, in hopes of keeping them off my house. Can't wait!!!

I could have sworn I saw a pair of hen harriers in Wicklow these last few days, this afternoon i saw the male skydiving snd freefalling as if to get the females attention. I am not aware of another species that does this?
